as your very own
I WILL HELP YOU PLAN YOUR PHOTO SESSION FROM BEGINNING TO END
I even made you a to-do list...
Your to-do list for photo day:
(Okay, you might have to feed your kiddos, too, or take the dog out in the morning. But seriously, I’ll take care of the rest.)
Leave the dishes in the sink. We won’t photograph ‘em anyway.
Leave the concealer in a drawer. I’m here to help with that part.
I’m not just a photographer. I’m also a makeup artist with more than 15 years of experience. Every session includes a professional makeup application, because you deserve some pampering.
mom to mom, I get that postpartum isn't always the most confidence-inspiring time.
You can trust me to help you look and feel your best.
“Meliza made everything so easy. She even got the smile out of my shy toddler who likes to hide behind me. My family had so much fun. If you are camera shy and don't know how to pose or what to do with yourself, I wouldn't worry because Meliza will guide you through and make the experience so positive and amazing.”
HERE'S HOW THE MORNING OF YOUR NEWBORN SESSION WILL GO
I meet you at your home with coffees in hand for the both of us. I’ll scope out the rooms in your house with the best lighting, help you declutter any lingering toys or laundry, and talk to you more about what to expect.
We get your makeup going. Your partner can change and get ready at the same time, and I’m happy to advise on outfits.
You and your partner hold your babe, share sweet moments in the soft, morning light, and reflect on what you’ve been through together. I capture it, and we talk about what life is like with a newborn.
2 HOURS LATER
Your partner says, “Wow! That was so much easier than I thought it would be!” We say our farewells.
TWO WEEKS LATER
You receive a gallery of photos to choose from, and let me know your faves. A few weeks after that, you flip through your very own heirloom album or hang the pictures up in the hall.
HEIRLOOMS > INSTAGRAM
These moments with your family are special. And when you choose to revisit them together, you don’t want to have to pull out your phones.
You want your kids to be able to point to the photo hanging in the hall, years from now, and say, “Look how little I was! See if you can carry me like that now!”
Flipping through albums in your parents’ house and seeing yourself smiling, laughing, or being held isn’t just nostalgic and special; it’s good for your self esteem.
According to psychologists, photography helps kids develop stronger confidence. It’s valuable for children to actually see themselves as part of a family unit.
That’s why each of my photo packages includes something physical. A beautiful photo of your family belongs in your hands, not just on a screen.
once and for all
(You’ve got enough on your plate!)
THINGS TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT
HOW YOU LOOK
I get it. This is a biggie, and can be especially tricky postpartum. You’re going to be exhausted. Your body is going to look different. It’s okay if you feel nervous.
The amazing thing about you? You’re planning this experience, anyway. You know that one day, your kiddos are going to look back and be happy mom was in the photo with them. That’s the most beautiful thing in the world.
On my end, I promise I’ll do my part to photograph you in a flattering way, put you at ease, and create a makeup look that’s both natural and stunning. I’ve got your back.
SPOUSE OR KIDS NOT FEELING EXCITED ABOUT PHOTOS
(One mom to another? My husband is never excited when we take family photos, either.) I promise that by the end of the session, your family will be surprised at how fast the time went and how easy it was.
This isn’t a “smile and say cheese” kind of experience. It’s a “blow raspberries on their tummy” or “take a moment to think about all it’s taken to get here” kind of experience. I promise it’ll be more fun than they think it will.
YOUR NEWBORN BEING A NEWBORN
I use a method called baby-led posing to make sure your newborn is comfortable throughout the session (no props, no unnatural poses). Your baby is perfect exactly as they are. They get to be our little director.
Feeding, changing diapers, and taking breaks are all natural and okay, which is why the timing of every newborn session is a little different, but generally they take about two hours. We’re in no rush.
YOUR KIDS BEING KIDS
Bring on the crazy, the shy, and everything in between. I have fun activities in my back pocket to get your kiddos smiling and engaged. And I also understand when we need to take a break. I’ve got two of my own — trust me; I get it. You can relax and leave it to me. (I’m good at this.)
THE BOTTOM LINE?
You don’t have to worry about keeping everyone happy or making sure everything runs smoothly — that part’s my job.
And I swear, really truly pinky promise, we’ll get the photos you’re hoping for. The ones that capture your kids’ personalities, the way you all interact with each other, and the joy and love you share (perhaps some of the chaos, too).
